The purpose of the organization is to provide compassionate and innovative care, conduct research, and offer educational opportunities. Shriners Children’s is a hospital that provides personalized care to children all over the world. They do this by achieving their purpose as stated above.
Providence’s Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital works with medical specialists to serve the Inland Northwest. Sacred Heart hosts Spokane’s only pediatric intensive care, psychiatry, hematology and oncology programs, as well as specialized trauma care for children with emergency medical needs.
During this project students learn about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, plastic pollution (with an emphasis on plastic shopping bags), The Ocean Clean Up Project, and local recycling options. Students create speeches to share with other classes and collect plastic shopping bags to be recycled. Teacher takes the bags to Walmart to be recycled.
Walmart partners with many global causes and is very green conscious. They will take all recycled plastic bags, so they do not have to be thrown out and end up in the garbage fills. These will be sold to china overseas to be reused.
Project Warm-Up provides hats, mittens, blankets and other much-needed items to those who are low-income, no-income and homeless in Spokane County. This program involves volunteers who work individually at home and in groups to create warm items which are distributed county-wide to curtail the risk of hypothermia.
Spokane Arts supports arts and culture in the region through grant making, programming, advocacy, and professional development. They foster creativity by providing direct support to individuals, groups, and organizations in the creative sector, and promote local arts and culture to the wider community.
