This organization’s purpose is to make people aware and to start thinking about heart disease, “America’s No. 1 Killer”. This association raises money to fund research about heart disease and has made large strides over the years to push for a healthier youth through programs such as The Kids Heart Challenge.
“YWCA Spokane is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.” This powerful mission statement is what you first encounter as you enter into the YWCA’s webpage. The YWCA has served the Spokane community for 116 years. They provide a wide variety of services to those who need the help in our community and beyond.
UGM is determined to restore the God-given dignity of people by sharing and demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ, providing without discrimination:
• Meals, shelter, outreach and chaplaincy services that relieve suffering and renew hope.
• Life recovery programs that offer freedom from addictive lifestyles.
• Education and job preparation that equip for successful living.
• Affordable housing that fosters community and personal contribution.
• Preventative programs that build healthy families.
Trash Free Earth is an organization that advocates for an environment that is trash free through educating those around them and getting the community to participate in clean ups all over. This organization sets up various projects to gather people apart of their organization and those not yet to clean up popular areas to make them look healthy and happy again. They often times partner up with other organizations or communities to clean up together.
Toys for Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas.
This program collects and distributes new unrawpped toys by local donations, those purchased by the foundation, and those donated by corporations. The foundation aims to unite members of local communities in a common cause to help less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a nonprofit specialized hospital and research center that provides care for children with cancer and catastrophic illnesses. St. Jude provides amazing care and resources for families in need from all 50 states and around the world with their international outreach program. Their mission statement is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of the founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion, or a family’s ability to pay.
