I’m flying in from out of state. What are the transportation options available?

Public transportation is available from the Spokane Airport to many of the area hotels, for routes and schedules consult https://www.spokanetransit.com.

Numerous car rental options are also available at the Spokane Airport. See http://spokaneairports.net/.

Rideshare companies such as Lyft and Uber are also highly recommended.

I plan on bringing my family and making this a family vacation. What are some of my options?

Second, for popular vacation spots in the region, the Pacific Northwest offers a wide variety of things to do, see, and experience. You will be within a day’s drive of five major National Parks, including Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Glacier, Olympic, and Crater Lake. Craters of the Moon National Monument and the National Bison Range are also a day’s drive. Cheney is very close to Turnbull National Wildlife refuge. The region’s National Forests offer plenty of scenic views, hiking, camping, and fishing opportunities in the summer.

We will be doing some walking at the Colville Museum, but it is relatively small so that the exertion would be minimal. The Grand Coulee Visitor Center is fully accessible.

What is the weather like there in the summer?

Eastern Washington weather in July is quite pleasant and typically dry. That said, however, bring a light raincoat or poncho for the occasional shower. Average high temperatures will be mid- to high-80s and lows in the mid-50s.

Sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, and comfortable walking shoes are recommended, especially for the Grand Coulee Dam trip. Bring a light jacket for evenings and early mornings. Shorts and pants are both recommended.

The weather for the Grand Coulee Dam visit will likely be warm and sunny, with temperatures a few degrees higher than Spokane.
