Taking a couple minutes a day to have a meaningful conversation could change a person mood for not just a day but weeks. Sometimes even though it takes a lot of time, meeting with your students could really help them talk about their feelings.
This tool should be used through out the year and when ever is needed/ possible. This is time for you to meet with your students and get to know them on a personal level and hear their thoughts, ideas and how they are feeling. Giving them the opportunity to discuss their thoughts and feeling could let them better understand how to work with others and you as the teacher understand them. Being able to see self growth can help them avoid conflict when someone else does something they may not agree with and then talk about it later whether it be with you or the student.
I think this goes in the Preventative Phase because it gives student the opportunity to voice their thoughts and opinions as well as their worries about how to handle different things. Giving them the time to talk with you as the teacher can help create a stronger bond and a more open relationship long term. Student collaborative and teacher collaborative phases go well with this because in these conversations it is not one person leading the conversation all the time. Sometimes it will be the students, sometimes it will be the teachers, and others you may both just dictate where the conversation goes. It gives the opportunity for the conversation to really go anywhere.
