About Us
The EWU Retirees Association was formed in 1983 and adopted its first constitution in 1984. The endowed scholarship fund, supported in part by membership fees, golf league proceeds and member gifts, has helped more than 40 EWU students earn their degrees.
EWURA Mission and Purpose
- To provide an organization which shall be responsive to the needs of retired higher education employees.
- To support the needs of Eastern Washington University in particular, and public higher education in Washington in general.
- To serve as a bridge between retirees, active faculty, administration, the Board of Trustees, and the Alumni Association on matters of mutual interest.
- To provide a resource for volunteer service by retirees on behalf of EWU.
- To provide official representation of the EWURA on the Board of the Washington State Coalition of Retired Higher Education Employees.
Who We Are
- EWURA members are a welcoming group of retirees from across university departments and units who devoted our work lives to creating a campus where students could succeed.
- Our group of nearly 100 members includes former faculty and staff, both classified and exempt, spouses and partners, who share an affection for Eastern.
- Our group is inclusive and friendly.
