One of our Resident Housing Association’s main goals is to promote student leadership. To accomplish this goal, we offer many different leadership opportunities that allow students to learn and grow from one another. Below are the different opportunities we offer.
Hall Council:
Hall Councils are a great way for students to jump into leadership at EWU. Each of our foyr residence halls offers a hall council for on-campus residents. Each hall may slightly vary on the positions offered, but generally those offered are: Administration & Newsletter Program Coordinator, Publicity, Marketing, & Social Media Program Coordinator, and an RHA Representative.
Hall Councils plan programs and represent the students of their hall. They receive training and support from RLC’s and CA’s. Elections are typically held at the beginning of each year, but contact your RLC for information on position openings.
Even if you do not hold an officer position, feel free to stop by your hall council to volunteer! See the hall council tab for information on times, dates, and locations.
Conferences:
Each year, our RHA travels to three conferences: the Regional Leadership Conference in the Fall, the Regional Business Conference in the Winter, and the NACURH Annual Conference in the Spring, a national conference. All conferences provide opportunities in leadership and growth for students living on campus. To learn more about the different conferences go to the conference tab to learn more.
Residence Hall Association Executive Team:
The RHA Executive Team is a team consisting of seven individuals dedicated to the betterment of our on-campus housing experience through programs and advocacy. The team consists of:
- President – responsible for being the face of RHA and facilitating all meetings,
- VP/NCC – responsible for being the main representative of our University in Boardroom at conferences
- Secretary – responsible for the maintaining of all organizational documentation, including spirit points
- Treasurer – oversees RHA spending and finances
- Publicity Officer – responsible for creating advertisement and maintaining social media
- Programs Coordinators (2) – responsible for planning programs to put on for our residence halls
Each position requires students to live on campus, work three office hours a week, attend two weekly meetings, and have a devotion for the betterment of our on-campus communities. In return, students earn a wonderful leadership experience that looks great on resumes, a quarterly monetary stipend, and great memories that will stay with you the rest of your life.
