MISSON: The EWU Food Pantry Program aims to alleviate hunger and foster a healthy and inclusive community by providing access to nutritious food.

EWU students, staff and faculty are invited to take what they need from the cabinets and central pantry. The is no need to qualify the pantry is open to any Eag in need.

For EWU students located on the WSU Spokane Campus, we have partnered to provide you access to their pantry. Please find their open times here.

Food Cabinets

There are 8 food cabinets at EWU Cheney and 1 at the new EWU Catalyst Building in Spokane.

Each cabinet is filled with non-perishable food items and hygiene products.

The cabinets can be accessed during the opening hours of the building in which they are located in (see map below for specific details on locations within buildings).

Each cabinet is "adopted" by an EWU club or organization whose members restock their assigned cabinet each week.

Visitors are asked to complete a quick "check-out" survey whenever they take something from the cabinet.

Why do I need to complete an intake form on my first visit?

We must collect an email address from each guest so that if there is a recall on a food item, we are able to contact everyone. The information collected on the intake form is intended to get to know who we serve so that we can better serve you all and improve the pantry program. Also, in order to uphold our partnerships with our donors, we are required to submit the age groups of the individuals that we serve and the amount of food that is distributed.

How Can I Help?

You can drop off donations at the Central Food Pantry located in Tawanka 129E during open hours or at the Counseling and Wellness Office located in room 201 of the University Recreation Center. If you are interested in volunteering to help address food insecurity, contact us at foodpantry@ewu.edu.

Most needed donations

- Hearty Soups (vegetable beef, chicken noodle, etc)

- Canned Tuna

- Snacks (granola/ protein bars, trail mix, fruit snacks, popcorn)

- Grains (white and brown rice, quinoa, wheat and gluten free pasta)

- Cooking oils (vegetable, olive)

- Breakfast foods (oatmeal, cereal, coffee, tea, shelf-stable milk, etc)

- Spices (salt, pepper, lemon pepper, garlic salt, Italian seasoning, turmeric, cayenne, taco seasoning mix, garlic powder, etc)

- Condiments (Ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, salad dressings, alfredo sauce etc)

- Hygiene products (menstrual items, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, bar soap, razors)
