EWU Temporary Employment Policy

Student employment positions at EWU are considered temporary and "at-will". Student employment is governed by the EWU Temporary Employment Policy (407-01).

Sick Leave

Some, but not all, student on-campus jobs are eligible for sick leave. Review the Sick Leave FAQs and the Interim Temporary Employee Policy (Policy 407-01) for more information.

Enrollment and Hours

Student employees must be enrolled at least half-time at the university (undergraduates - 6 credits, graduate students - 5 credits) and are limited to a maximum of 516 hours in any six consecutive months. This averages to 19 hours per week, exclusive of hours worked on established academic breaks.

Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect

Recent changes to Washington State's child abuse reporting laws have extended reporting requirements to employees of higher education institutions.  The law also requires that institutions ensure that employees have knowledge of their reporting responsibilities.  The following memo and attachment provide such notification to all current EWU employees, including student employees:

EWU Sexual Harassment Policy Statement
