The Spokane Tribe of Indians and the Eastern Washington University community are mourning the loss of Pauline Flett, a treasured tribal elder and dedicated teacher of Salish, the once endangered language of the Spokane people.
Jay Rea, long time EWU Archivist, former EWU Foundation Board member and former president and secretary-treasurer of the EWU Retirees Association, died on Saturday, April 18, 2020. He was 84.
Alys Seifert, a long-time educator in EWU’s Modern Languages and Literature Department, died on March 4, 2020 at the age of 84.
Randel “Randy” Wagner, a former Eastern Washington University music professor and acclaimed baritone, died in Liberty Lake on Dec. 22 from complications related to frontotemporal dementia. He was 67 years old.
Cathy Smith, a long-time Eastern Washington University employee, died on Nov. 24.
Alex Cameron, a long-time professor and administrator in EWU’s Department of Accounting, died on Dec. 1. He was 76.
