Sophomore Spencer Kimbro, a captain on EWU’s National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) team, was recently selected by NWBA head coaches to receive the Frank M. Brasile Sportsmanship Award, a national award honoring Frank Brasile, a former commissioner in the Intercollegiate Division of the wheelchair basketball association.
Kimbro, a native of Moses Lake, was also one of 12 athletes chosen by the NWBA to be a part of its Men’s Emerging Elite Development Camp, a training program designed by the sport’s U.S. High Performance Committee. The program includes instruction opportunities and scrimmage play in friendly competitions against, among others, the US Women’s National Wheelchair Basketball Team as they preparation for their own competitions in August at the Paralympic Games.
The scrimmages, scheduled for April 22-24, will be live-streamed. Look for more details on the NWBA website and its social-media platforms.
