The Associated Students of Eastern Washington University (ASEWU) want to ensure that members of the Eastern community have the opportunity to vote in the upcoming election. The organization, in collaboration with Spokane County, will host a nonpartisan “Student Engagement HUB” from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day—Tuesday, Nov. 3—in the PUB Nysether Community Room (NCR). All students, faculty, staff and community members who are eligible to vote will be able to complete same day registration and vote on that day.
“The Student Engagement Hub is a commitment to the idea that everyone should have easy access to voting,” says Danica Jenck, who holds ASEWU’s legislative affairs position. “Despite the pandemic, ASEWU wants to ensure that students are able to exercise their civil rights while staying safe.”
Because this even is nonpartisan, any campaigning or electioneering on Tuesday, Nov. 3 must occur away from the PUB in the Campus Mall. Students interested in volunteering with the Student Engagement HUB can learn more by emailing ASEWU at asewulegaaffairs@ewu.edu. A 30-minute training will be required at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30.
Any students looking for opportunities to destress from the election (something fun to do) or looking for someone to talk to post election, can take advantage of the opportunities listed here.
