EWU Food Pantry Needs Your Help to Restock Shelves

The EWU Food Pantry is a critical part of the Eastern Washington University ecosystem. One of our most important goals as a university is to ensure that students have the resources they need to succeed and earn a degree. But when students don’t know where their next meal is coming from, their studies can be the last thing on their minds.

With the current economic uncertainties caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the EWU Food Pantry is more important than ever. Some students are facing increased food insecurity, or for some, facing it for the first time. We must continue this crucial support for our students, but we cannot do it alone.

The EWU Food Pantry had planned a food and toiletries drive for Giving Joy Day this year. Unfortunately, that had to be cancelled due to the pandemic. The pantry is also facing a recent drop in funding and staff can no longer accept donations from the public due to current health concerns. Therefore, the best way to help provide the nutritious meals students need to continue their studies is monetary donations. Food pantry staff will use the funds to purchase food and personal hygiene products to restock the pantries. With the help of community partners, the pantry can ensure that your donation stretches as far as possible, by purchasing products without the grocery store markup.

Please, consider a gift to the EWU Food Pantry on Giving Joy Day this year. We’d also love to see other ways you are sharing joy in our community. Use #GivingJoyDay to share joy with your family and friends on social media. For additional ways to give, please visit our Giving Joy Day webpage.
