As we prepare for spring break—the week of March 22-26—the university wants to remind everyone to stay safe as we remain in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Please continue to follow the local safety guidelines where ever you are.
Being safe and healthy doesn’t mean you need to stay home. Spokane and the surrounding area have numerous activities to keep students safe and active. Here are some suggestions from Campus Life:
Spring skiing is a great way to stay active and avoid crowds this spring break. It’s the perfect combination of warm spring sun and EPIC snow conditions. Here are several of the local resorts planning to be open this spring break:
- Mt. Spokane Ski & Snowboard Park (Spokane, Wash.)
- 49 Degrees North Mountain Resort (Chewelah, Wash.)
- Schweitzer Mountain Resort (Sandpoint, Idaho)
- Silver Mountain Resort (Kellogg, Idaho)
- Lookout Pass Ski & Recreation Area (Mullan, Idaho)
EPIC Adventures will be offering discounted prices to the resorts listed above for all EWU students. This includes half price lift tickets, with an option to add ski and snowboard package rentals (also at a discounted rate). Click here for more information on this promotion.
If you are looking to avoid the snow, Spokane’s local trails can provide you with plenty of space in nature during spring break. Hikes along the Spokane River are amazing. Check out the hiking options at Riverside State Park and Spokane County State Park websites for some of the best and most accessible hiking in the inland northwest.
Contact EPIC Adventures for more information about ways to stay active this spring break at 509.359.4014, or at firstname.lastname@example.org. And remember to stay safe while you enjoy a well deserved break from classes.
“I really encourage students to remain diligent in wearing a mask, washing their hands and watching their distance,” says Josh Ashcroft, the associate vice president of Campus Life. “Covid numbers in our area remain low and we want to continue that trend so that more restrictions can be lifted. Go Eags!”
Reminder: COVID-19 Antigen Testing
After spring break, all students involved in on-campus activities are required to participate in EWU’s COVID-19 antigen testing. - Sunday, March 28 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- Monday, March 29 from 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
EWU is also offering free voluntary COVID-19 antigen testing for employees and students not involved in on-campus activities. Testing is done inside the Roost during the following dates and times:
- Starting March 10: Wednesdays and Fridays from noon-2 p.m.
- Starting April 5: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from noon-2 p.m.
