Eastern Washington University’s unique connection with Microsoft is already allowing students to make a difference in the community.
Launched in 2018, courses from the Microsoft Professional Program in Data Science are now integrated into the final-year curriculum of students studying analytics in the College of Business and Public Administration. EWU is the only school to offer this Microsoft credential combined with a degree.
This week, a local media outlet took notice of the work students in the program have done with community partners. The Inlander highlighted a project between EWU and the city of Spokane to analyze data from a recent count of the local homeless population. Both a win for students and the city, students told the Inlander the project allowed them to “apply their learning to issues directly impacting the local community.”

The students involved in this project are only the second class to graduate with the added Microsoft credential. To learn more about a Bachelor of Science in Data Analytics and the Microsoft Professional Program, please visit the EWU website.
