The Eastern Washington University’s Board of Trustees (BOT) is initiating the process to select a new president for the university.
David May has served as interim president since last August, when former President Mary Cullinan stepped down from the job.
The BOT is now forming a search committee and hiring a consultant to help conduct a national search so a permanent replacement can be named.
“One of the most important responsibilities of the Board of Trustees is to select the university’s president,” says BOT Chair Vicki Wilson. “We encourage the campus community to fully engage in this process.”
At a special Monday meeting, the Board has agreed to form a Presidential Search Advisory Committee (PSAC) that will include four trustees (one of which will serve as committee chair) as well as the following:
- 1 College dean
- 3 Faculty (one UFE; one Faculty Org; one faculty-at-large)
- 2 Classified Employee (one WFSE; one classified-at-large)
- 1 Public School Employee (PSE)
- 1 Exempt Employee
- 2 Students
- 1 Foundation Board Member
- 1 Alumni Board Member
- 2 Community Members
The BOT will accept nominations to the PSAC through 5 p.m., May 7, via email at boardoftrustees@ewu.edu or through the BOT website.
To maximize the ability of the university to attract quality candidates nationwide, the Board of Trustees will engage an experienced Executive Consultant Search Firm with expertise in higher education executive searches.
The Board will issue a request for proposal (RFP) to invite bids from qualified firms.
The search process could take up to a year.
