During inclement weather this winter, or during emergency situations, Eastern Washington University has several resources to alert you on the latest information regarding the status of university operations.
The EWU Emergency Information page contains critical resources to get you through winter, including information on what steps the university takes to determine if classes will be canceled as well what services are available on days when operations are shut down. The page also includes a link to the university’s Suspended Operations policy and the Emergency Management Plan on the University Police webpage.
If you haven’t already please sign up for the EWU Alerts system to receive official EWU announcements via text message, email and more. Information can also be obtained by following us on Twitter (@EWUNews or @EWUEagles), Facebook or by visiting the EWU Emergency webpage.
Students, faculty and staff can also call the EWU Snow Line at 509.359.7669 or 359-SNOW for voice-recorded updates. Messages will typically be updated if there is a change to normal operations during a major weather event or other incident, or when the university is returning to normal operations.
Each individual should make their own decision on whether to come in or stay home based on their situation and personal safety. As per Eastern’s Suspended Operations policy, if an employee requests to leave or not report to work because he/she has concerns regarding the weather or driving conditions, the employee must take vacation leave, compensatory time if applicable or leave without pay.
