Donald McManis, Eastern Washington University emeritus, died on March 8, 2020 at age 85. McManis retired from the university in 1996 after 27 years of service in applied psychology.
According to McManis’ obituary published in The Spokesman-Review, he had great passion and talent for conducting research and contributed significantly in the area of growth and development, with numerous publications in the field.
McManis spent much of his childhood growing up in Eastern Washington and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1952 during the Korean War. Upon the completion of his service in 1955, McManis utilized the G.I. Bill to attend WSU (then called the State College of Washington), where he earned his psychology degree. He later obtained both a Master’s and doctorate in psychology from the University of Oregon.
