Eastern Washington University is saddened to report the passing of James Hoffman on May 16, 2019.
Hoffman spent more than ten years with Eastern Washington University. Starting in 1991, he served as Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost for six years before returning to teaching and becoming chair of the Geology Department. Upon his retirement in 2002, Hoffman was awarded the titles of Provost Emeritus and Professor of Geology Emeritus.
