It is with a heavy heart that Eastern Washington University reports the passing of Travis Rivers, PhD.
Rivers was an Emeritus Professor of the EWU Music Department who served as department chair for two terms. He was a professor of music history and piano, and, in addition, served as the concert reviewer for the Spokesman Review for many years.
“His legacy is strong and his contributions to EWU and the larger music community were immense,” writes Jonathan Middleton, department chair and professor in the Music Department.
Jody Graves, also a fellow professor in the music department, writes, “Travis Rivers was a force here at EWU and I remember him with great love and admiration. He left an impression on so many with is amazing mind and knowledge of music.”
A celebration of life will take place from 2-4 p.m. on September 28 at Rockwood Manor.
