Dear Campus Community:
As many of you are aware, in light of surging COVID-19 cases locally and statewide, Gov. Jay Inslee Sunday announced roll-backs to the state’s “Safe Start” plan to reopen. Eastern Washington University continues to follow the Governor’s recommendations to protect the health and safety of all members of our campus community.
While EWU is already carefully following many of the restrictions implemented under the latest order, the university continues to assess whenever the Governor’s Office revises the latest plan and reviews what needs to be implemented on campus. So far, it looks like higher education is not impacted.
More than anything this is a reminder that during the upcoming holiday season we all have to be vigilant in following public health guidelines as we continue to battle this virus. This is why Eastern made the decision early this academic year to move all fall classes – including finals – fully online after Thanksgiving. Other information on how students should prepare for the Thanksgiving break will be sent out to students and parents in the coming days.
I would like to thank those working to keep our buildings clean and sanitary, faculty who have done a remarkable job to ensure our online offerings meet student expectations, and to all the others working to keep our university thriving. I know this has been a very taxing time for everyone and on behalf of the whole leadership team I thank you all for your daily efforts to keep us Eagle Strong.
